YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Nov. 3, 2011) — Pecchia Communications, a local public relations and marketing firm, has agreed to provide its services on a pro-bono basis for the campaign to renovate Rayen Stadium in Youngstown.
The firm recently organized the campaign’s introductory news conference, launched its website and Facebook page and developed its collateral materials. It continues to provide messaging, media relations and other services, all at no cost to the campaign or the Youngstown City School District, which owns the stadium.
The fund-raising campaign is co-chaired by Jim Tressel, former football coach at Ohio State and Youngstown State universities, and the Rev. Dr. Lewis Macklin, pastor at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Youngstown. It is managed day to day by Ed Matey, athletic director for the city schools.
The campaign aims to raise $3 million to renovate Rayen Stadium, make it the home field for the city’s football teams and support the return of soccer to the schools. Campaign leaders say the restored arena will boost the fan base, provide a safe gathering place for parents and the community and increase overall school pride.
The city schools have not had a regular home field since 1993.
“That stadium can be a blessing to the schools and the city,” said Dan Pecchia, president of Pecchia Communications, who grew up in Youngstown. “It’s great to see leaders like Jim Tressel and Rev. Macklin get in front of this and we’re thrilled to support them.”
Pecchia Communications provides public relations, marketing and change management communications services. The company was established in November 2005. More information is available at pecchiacomm.com.
