Lawyers with Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell are authoring a series of blog articles with recommendations and resources to help clients and others work through issues related to COVID-19.
The 15 COVID-related posts released since late-March represent the heaviest publishing period in the more than 12 years since HHM launched its Solutions@Law blog to convey its capacity for providing legal solutions to businesses, nonprofits, individuals and families.
“As we continue to work through this crisis, we’re receiving a lot of questions and concerns from our clients and new details are surfacing daily,” said Shawna L’Italien, an HHM lawyer and co-chair of its business development committee.
“With these blog articles, we’re able to distribute key information to a wide audience in a timely fashion. We’ve heard some positive feedback from clients who have said they look for our new posts because they’re helpful resources in a time of need.”
Key Advantages to Developing a Reliable Blog Series
Kelli Hulea of Pecchia Communications, which collaborates with HHM lawyers to edit, publish and distribute content, points out several advantages to a reliable blog series that addresses relevant and timely issues.
- A consistent blog series can draw ongoing engagement from readers. Since March, HHM has published and distributed four to six blogs a month and, even with the massive increase in volume, each post has drawn many viewers. Lawyers received feedback from clients and others who had anticipated their next blog posts to help them navigate their issues at hand.
- A blog series can reach many eyeballs in real time. HHM published the blogs on its website and distributed them through email blasts sent to clients, prospects and referral sources. The firm also shared the content on Facebook and LinkedIn. By tracking website traffic, email readership and social analytics, it was clear that the blog posts were reaching many within minutes of distribution. HHM was also in a unique position to be able to deliver legal expertise and answers to questions related to new laws and regulations surfacing for employers and employees – and they often did so the same day the information was finalized by the state and federal governments.
- A blog series can shed light on expertise and build long-term trust. HHM lawyers were staying on top of the latest news, researching updates and receiving many questions from their clients. They were living and breathing these issues from the start of the pandemic. It only made sense for them to utilize the firm’s blog platform to distribute the information they were already formulating in order to reach others with the same questions and concerns. The blog enabled HHM’s authors to spotlight their expertise on a wide variety of topics and, more importantly, to start building trust with potential new clients who were utilizing these key resources at no cost.
“Every successful organization has something valuable to offer its consumers,” said Kelli. “It comes down to identifying who that audience is, listening to what they need and establishing the right route to get it to them.
“This is the perfect example of an organization knowing its areas of expertise, understanding what its audiences need, increasing its efforts to reach them and delivering real value to those individuals – often in real time.”
